Tips for a successful ER visit

I feel as though I need to post this as a public service announcement. There are some things that you should know when you decide that you have a condition that warrants you traveling to the ER. These are all things that are the same no matter what time of day or night that you decide to come in.

First off, if you come in through triage: this is the main desk in front where you tell the nurse why yo are here, remember that this is not a deli counter. It is not a first come, first serve event. Your toothache does not trump the chest pain that comes in after you, and yes, we do know you are in pain, because you have told us that over and over and over again.

Just because you call an ambulance for a toothache, dosen't mean that you will be seen faster. In fact, if it is busy enough, you will most likely walk right back out to the triage desk and hence the "first come first serve" is again thrown out the window.

If you come in knowing the names of the various pain medications that you prefer to have given IV, and which ones of that list works best for you, please do not be offended if we think that you are a drug seeker.

If you can walk across the entire ER, wait for me to come out of a pt's room, and then proceed to tell me you are DYING, you really are not.

If you have decided to come to the ER because of a serious condition, understand that tests and results take time. Telling me that you are upset because you have been waiting for an hour only makes me want to shake my head in front of you to tell you how you are really in for the long haul.

Lastly, the respect you show me, is the respect you receive in return.

Torrington couple

Wins the CT lottery. Hey only 3.4 million after taxes in one lump sum. And no it was not us!!!! Too bad huh? I think so. Things that hit close to home really have you wishing and wanting. What would you do with all of that money? I know what we would do. Most likely buy a bigger home with the features living in this home has us wishing that would like. We each have our wishes. We know we would love to have a colonial with bedrooms upstairs, a nice yard, extra bedrooms for perhaps another child down the line. I need to get another career those because a price tag looms with that. Of course I can just drive to the new winners couples home and ask for a wee bit? I laughed because they actually post the name and ADDRESS of these people in the newspaper!!!!! That is last place I would want my name sprawled!!!

But out of the dream zone :) Elijah is doing very well with his DOC band. They are very happy with his growth and change in these last 5 weeks. We go again in 2 weeks.

Some time has passed

And so it is time to catch up again right? Hahahah I guess I should go person by person?

Hannah is doing well. She is now a blue belt in Karate. She is looking forward to our upcomming trip to Puerto Rico. She also was able to get a new bed. As we always search for opportunities to gain more space we decided to get a loft bed.So far she has truly loved sleeping up high.

Elijah now has 1 tooth and another that is working on poking its way through the gums. He is still happy as can be. We are now on a 2 week checkup schedule with the helmet. The therapists say they are seeing great progress already. He still does not enjoy tummy time but is tolerating it more.

Dave and I are still going strong with weightwatchers. Slow and steady is how I love it baby!!! This week o ur gym opened up and so I have started running on my Couch to 5k plan I found. o far so good. I hate it while I am doing it but feel great when I am done. I look forward to the warm weather when I can run outside though. I also tried a Yoga class with one of my co workers. Again I really enjoyed it. One of those classes that you feel good afterwards (although your muscles scream at you the next day!!!
