The catch up

I know I know, send the blogging Police to my home!!!! Ahh where does the time go when you are having a grand ole time????? I figured I should post again before the new year??? I can;t leave all of my blog readers in total suspense right???

So what has happened since I last posted??? I guess maybe I should do a person by person update???

Hannah:
Well Hannah turned 7 on November 21rst. For her birthday we along with her BFF took her to the new Coco Key Water Resort in Waterbury CT. It is a giant indoor waterpark and brand new so aka: CLEAN. She had a wonderful time and so did Elijah who spent most of his time walking after the female life guards. She also went back and had 2 more teeth extracted for a grand total of 6. She is now done with that portion of the torture. This second round was a bit more traumatic than the first, mostly because Hannah was anticipating the blood and that made her quite upset. Once Dr Tony actually got the teeth out she realized that it was ok. She is still doing Karate and is up to a Blue belt with 2 stars. We are hoping with next graduation that she reaches her blue belt with stripe. She is doing well in school although her attitude does still get her in a jam on occasion. Her behavior notes are becomming less frequent though!

Elijah:
What can I say????? He is all BOY and keeping us on our toes. Anything in reach is his to own. Hi favorite things? Music, the remote control and his Blankie. He is walking and running like a champ. Aunt Cyndi started some sign language with him and he knows "more" and "eat" two of the most important things in his life!!!! He naps like a champ and likes to point and say "this".

David:
Is still working at his current job hoping that the remaining outsourcing that is being done to the phillipines does not affect his job. He still is our best cook in the house and does a great kids night duty when I have to nap before work.

Me: Ahhh less than a month before my marathon. The tickets are at the travel agency and there is no turning back!!!! I am hoping the weather cooperates. My co worker Mary and I participated in the Turkey trot on Thanksgiving and finished the 10K in 1:22. Let me tell you they were not kidding when they said it was a hilly course!!!! We had a great time though complaining thorough each hill! Work in the ER is still good. We are busy on some days and less on others!

This picture is of Oma and Elijah on Thanksgiving at Aunt Cyndi's house. She again hosted a wonderful event. The food was delicious as always.

Back on track

In Cape Cod David said that he wanted to get back on Weight Watchers. I definately wanted to get back on board with it to. We did so well but just never got back on the bandwagon after we came home from Puerto Rico. Week 1 is down and I have lost 2.5 lbs and David 6lbs. I am proud of the both of us. I figure the more I lose, the less pounds I have to carry 26.2 miles ya know?? I will let you all know of our progress!

Back from Cape Cod

We just arrived home from Cape Cod. This weekend was the Cape Cod Marathon and Relay. We had 2 official teams from the ER go up to represent!!!! It was a tough rode to get there because we lost a total of 4 people between the 2 teams and 3 people from our team in the last 2 weeks alone. We rented a house and all bunked together a stones throw away from the beat. Incidentely the first relay exchange point was right across the street from us!

Above is picture of my official team, team charlotte. It consisted of fellow nurses Brita and Michelle, and Michelle's son and his friend who were awesome and filled in for us!

These were most of the members of both teams

This is a picture taken from the front yard of our house. That is a soccer field. And MANY small children play soccer in Falmouth EARLY on Saturday mornings. Ask me how I know??

This is Tracy, a fellow nurse on the other Team. She ran the very last leg of the race. Dosen;t she make running look good and easy???

I ran the first leg with my friend and co worker Claire. This was her first ever race and I decided I would support her all the way through at her pace, no matter what she did!!! She did awesome and made it the whole way. This picture is of the first exchange.

Claire and I cresting the giant hill. Do you notice the older lady in the background??? She passed us at the water station. Claire said we had to sprint to the finish because she could not beat us!

Having a little fun at the end!!

Thank you to Aunt Cyndi and Uncle Todd for watching the kids for us. I hope they didn't exhaust you!!
Also thank you to Nana and Papa for watching Autumn for us!

Our official time was 4:21:04
That was 156 out of 188

The other team smoked us!!!
They were 3:59:29 100 out of 188

When it rains, children will play

Last Saturday was a rainy day. We wanted to originally go to the Big E that day but instead decided to put that off one day and go to Kid City in Middletown instead. It was a cute place for the kids to run around in. Elijah enjoyed the toddler room and the room with blocks which proceeded to throw everywhere. Hannah loved anything that she could climb on!! Enjoy the pictures!

Where does the time go??

Time is flying by so quickly. The weather is turning a corner and fall is in the air. The central air has been turned off and the windows have been openened. And that means I need to get my tail into gear!!!! Before we know it January will be here!

So, there has been questions about what my itinerary looks like as far as races.

October 12TH- Make a Wish run for fun. 10 miles
October 26TH A whole bunch of us from the ED are going to Cape Cod and running the Falmouth Marathon as relay teams. It will be my first time in Cape Cod and Dave and I are going children free.
Then it will be training until January.

Elijah is growing up too quickly. He is officially a walker. He officially is a BOY and all BOY. He definately knows how to smash and destroy things. He loves loves loves talking on the phone and has lots to say. I just took him to the dr's and he is 24 lbs 10 ozs and 32 inches tall. As David says, he is a tank!!!

Hannah is doing well in 2nd grade. She will be in for some dental work shortly which will include pulling 6 of her teeth and having dental appliances installed that will stay with her until she is at least 12.

This weekend we are hoping to catch some sun shine in order to get up tot he Big E. Wish us luck.

No new pictures for now sorry!!

The joys of children

Elijah in his new car.

Life is going well here. The weather is becomming nicer which is making running a lot easier. I have a new running partner : Hannah. She has ran with me at the end of my runs on 2 occasions and is hooked. We decided to sign her up for the kids 400m at Disneyworld and she is very excited.

I have officially reached my minimum fundraising amount of $600. Thank you to all that have donated to the cause!!! Now I am just going above and beyond raise as much as I can for AT reasearch.

Another school year

This is how Hannah spent her summer: with a full head of hair. A few months ago she wanted to cut her hair short like mom. I told her if that was the case she should donate her hair to locks of love and showed her pictures online. She at that time did not thin it was a good idea, and I told her that was being a little selfish. She changed her mind about cutting her hair on the way to SnipIts. Well she wanted to get her hair cut again and said that she would donate her hair to the kids. And so we went.

Hannah is sporting a cute new bob and went that way to her 1rst day of school . She was excited and proud to give her hair to kids with diseases that make their hair fall out.

One!

Can you believe that Elijah is one already? Where does time go? It is amazing. We are blessed with a happy little guy who enjoys everything in life. We were lucky enough to have Aunt Cyndi and Uncle Todd allow us to party at their house.

Grandpa Jorge flew in from Puerto Rico on Thursday. He had a great time while here and enjoyed being around the children.

Marathon training week 3

This was the first week that I did not reach my minimum mileage. I had miscalculated the day of the petit road race. For some reason I though it was saturday not Sunday. So that was 3 miles at the end of my week that I did not have.

Monday 3miles: mile 1 11:01 mile 2 14:45 mile 3 15:19 Heights Drive run
Thursday 2 miles: mile 1 13:28 mile 2 13:19 Heights Drive run

The Petit Road race sponsored by GE was held on Sunday July 20th. It began at 9:30 and one of my coworkers ran with me. The weather was humid, hot and yucky!!!! The race was to benefit the Petit family foundation.Dr Petit lost his wife and 2 daughters after 2 men invaded their home and they ended up being murdered. It was a great event with a great turnout.
I really wanted to try and shave some minutes off of my original 5k time. This ended up not happening. However I did not come in last by a long long run and did not come in last in my age group by over 30 people which was nice. My final time was 40:49.

Getting there

In my fundraising efforts, I have sent packets to various local businesses hoping to stir up some donations. So far 2 have responded with Iffland Lumbar donating $50 today. I am at $500 plus another $40 that I need to send in from coworkers. I have decided to raise my goal to $1000 since I have so long still to go. I have to get my creative juices flowing to see where and how else to raise funds. My friends and family have of course been my biggest supporters!!!

The CT Emergency nurses association has contacted me to write an article for their fall newsletter to raise awareness for AT. They also said I could put in the donation info too :)

Sunday I will be participating int the Petit Road race. www.petitroadrace.com. My goal of course is to finish, and not last, but to also run the entire race. But in the end, cutting off time from my first ever 5k would be great too!!

NYC

On Sunday Papa and his friend Don, along with our crew drove to NYC. This was not the usual tourist trip, to see the sites like Times square etc, instead it turned into a food trip of sorts. We started off by going to the Fariview market. It was definately a shopping experience. It was a great time to see the large varieties of many of our favorite. If you like olive oil, they had 20 types, cheeses from around the world and a meat room where they provided you with jackets upon entering.

Then we headed for another drive to Economy candy. This is any childs dream place. Candy from floor to ceiling!!! Can't you tell by Hannah's face?

We had lunch at Katz's deli, known for it's many Jewish foods. It was very busy even on a Sunday, so I cannot even imagine what it is like on the weekends!!

Here are some pictures that Papa has taken. He is becomming quite the photographer!

All is well in the Moskowitz household. We are keeping busy since the summer is in full force. For me Marathon training has begun. All that it means is consistent mileage, consistent days of the week, with increasing mileage each week. David took before pictures of me. I call them my motivation pictures!
