6 month stats

I took Elijah to his 6 month well visit. He now weighs in at 20lbs 12 oz and is 28.5 inches long. He is still doing very well with his band. We go for a checkup for that on Friday.

I also needed to share this video. My friend Jennie had it on her blog and I had to share it too.

And last but not least. I decided to invest in a long term goal. I want to precede this by saying that I hate running. I don't understand people who run for fun. In my mind running should be left for a purpose. like being chased by a mountain lion. I have however decided that I want to run in the Litchfield Road race. It is held each July in the town over. I have volunteered their in the past, but only while sitting in the ambulance hoping that no one passed out. There are people from all walks of life who run it. They only allow 3000 people to register. I have made a goal to do it. Sign ups are next month!!

Happy 6 months

Elijah turned 6 months old yesterday. What did he receive? Why his DOC band of course. So far so good as he does not seem to mind it as of yet. He however is not able to massage the back part of his hair anymore when he gets tired. We had a few sticker themes to choose from and Hannah decided on the pirate theme first.

Weight Watchers week 2

David and I have been doing weight watchers. My work actually offered the WW at work program, so I joined initially, but it is pretty useless to go into a lifestyle change alone. I attend the official meetings and David weighs in at home. It really is going quite well. We are sticking to the point system to a t. As of Weds which was the end of week 2 I have lost 4.6 lbs and David 10lbs.

Hannah is getting a kick out of me looking up point values in the book. She thinks if it is listed in the book it is healthy!

Casting is complete

David and I took Elijah to his casting appointment last week. I would have posted earlier but blogger's uploading service was down.
Anyways, he did very well. He wasn't really phased until the very end of the procedure when I think he didn't want to sit up any longer. His DOC band should arrive in about 10-14 days. He will wear it 23 hours a day for 8-10 weeks.

I have also survived my first week on the night shift. It is an adjustment but again has been easier than expected. Since I only work 12 hour shifts, I only have to work 3 nights a week which is nice. It is a little harder, less resources, including nurses, dr's x ray technicians etc.

Lastly, David and I have started Weight Watchers. They actually started a program at my work. I got all of the materials and Dave is using them along with me. So far, so good. No cheating hear!! My weigh in is on Weds.

Another update

We went to Cranial Technologies last Monday. It was a long drive to Clinton CT but an informative one. The first thing they did was take pictures of Elijah at various angles and then took vital measurements of his noggin. Then we sat down and talked with the staff.

The pictures really were eye opening because I was able to see the issues more clearly. As far as measurements go, the flat side of Elijahs head is 17mm different than the other. Everyone has a difference of between 0-3 mm. 15 or more is considered severe Plagiocephaly. His ears are misaligned by 5mm and his eyes by 2mm. They definately recommended the DOC band. We now have to hear back from our insurance company to see whether or not they will cover any of this because many consider it cosmetic and not medically necessary.
Once we find out we can move on to have Elijah's head casted to make a mold. They send that away and 10-14 days later the band comes back. He will wear that for 8-10 weeks until he grows out of it and then he will be remeasured.
